What is Wellness?

When beginning a wellness blog, I had to ask myself “where do we start?”  And I guess the most obvious place would be to define the word wellness.  What does it mean? 

Per dictionary.com, it is “the quality or state of being healthy in body and mind, especially as the result of deliberate effort.”

When researching this definition, I came across a million different answers. A bit overwhelming and frustrating when trying to narrow down the focus of your blog.   However, the definition that resonated closest to me was this, “Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life.  It is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth.  A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” (Per the UCDavis website)

Playing off of this definition, our goal for this blog is to bring you an educational publication dedicated to the wellness scene.  To help clarify and bring information to you in an easy-to-understand platform.  We will include topics such as natural beauty, nutrition, how to detoxify your everyday life, emotional well-being, and lots more.  As trends change and new information becomes available, our intention is to keep this site as up to date as possible.  And if there is ever a topic that you would like talked about please, leave a comment and let us know.  This is to be an interactive experience, an open discussion, a chat between friends. 

We want to help YOU design a lifestyle of wellness.  We are all capable of living happy, healthy and content lives, so let’s join up and start this journey together.  Strap on your boots and let’s adventure into the beautiful world of wellness.
